Assam flood has been very harse this time and it has affected more than 33 lakhs people and 95% of Kaziranga National Park has been under flood water.
Diphu town of Karbi Anglong district and its nearby has been submerged under flood water since 27th july 2020 due to non-stop rainfall. The flash flood has affected both the banks of Diphu river. The flood water has also covered the market area of the diphu town. From reports, about 60,000 people have been affected in Diphu town and nearby areas.
The newly-constructed state-of-the-art Karbi Anglong Sports’ Association’s stadium is experiencing high water-logging. The District Industrial Complex, Diphu Medical College and Hospital, Town and Country Planning office, Dharamnala, Horilal Basti, Sitolabari, Shiv Bari areas are the worst-affected. The flash flood have damaged hundreds of vehicles, shops, stored food items, cement and other perishable goods in Diphu town.
Worse condition is seen in Diphu Medical college which is completely submerged in the flash flood. Medical workers, patients and all other staffs are seen working without caring for the flood.
People of Diphu town have condemned Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council authority for improper town planning and drainage system in the town. Also many new construction works were going on due to which many drains were blocked.
